JustBe is a social brand dedicated to encouraging pre-teen girls to embrace their true selves and savor the joys of youth. In today's world, many young girls feel pressured to grow up too quickly, largely due to the pervasive influence of social media. Our project aims to improve mental health and self-perception among these girls, promoting personal exploration and the importance of having fun during this crucial stage.

To bring this vision to life, we created a variety of media, including a website, flyers, merchandise, and business materials that will be integral to our campaign. Each of these materials is designed not only to reflect the brand's cute and lighthearted image but also to serve as practical promotional content. By combining creativity with functionality, we hope to engage our audience effectively and inspire young girls to celebrate their individuality.

Process & Experience

Throughout this project, I collaborated with my two teammates, who are also co-founders, to research and design the JustBe brand. We began by defining our brand voice, which we characterized as friendly, youthful, and feminine. These values guided our choices in typefaces, color palettes, and logos, resulting in a visually cohesive identity.

In designing potential products, we created personas representing our target users, considering their needs and preferences in relation to our brand. Our final offerings included a variety of fun promotional materials, such as stickers and merchandise, aimed at generating excitement around the brand. We also developed professional artifacts like business cards and a website to help fans learn more about JustBe. Additionally, we produced interactive flyers and established an app and social media presence to connect with our audience in the modern digital landscape.

JustBe is the first branding project I worked on in a team setting. This course assignment was designed as a casual and experimental experience, allowing us to develop a hypothetical brand and campaign for the future. The relaxed atmosphere gave my team and me the freedom to explore our creativity, enabling us to generate a wide range of products without the constraints of strict guidelines. We even created real mockups of posters and stickers, which we shared with our classmates during the final presentation.

This assignment taught me the importance of stepping back and enjoying the creative process as a designer. I discovered that some of my most vibrant and exciting ideas emerge when I feel relaxed and free. While it’s essential to follow clients' requests and guidelines, it's equally important to remember to have fun while doing so. This balance can lead to truly innovative and engaging work.
